A Matter Of The Countdown to Eurogamer

It’s that time of the year when all of the big releases start to appear in such a quick blur that it’s as if a ninja is flinging them at you one after the other. As a gamer it’s nice to be offered such a huge selection but sometime it’s hard to discover which ones are actually worth playing. That’s why this year we continue our annual ritual of a trek up to London where we get to spend some hands on time with the vast majority of the new releases gracing our consoles and PC’s over the next six months or so in order to see which ones are worth ours and your money. The line-up this year is the biggest yet and they’ve upgraded the venue to the larger Earls Court 1, in order to accommodate the horde of gamers heading their way.

Personally i’m looking forward to a lot more games this year then I remember anticipating since we’ve started going to these events. To name some of the highlights, we’ve got:

  • Batman: Arkham City (really must get round to playing the 1st one!)
  • Battlefield 3
  • Modern Warfare 3 (should keep all of the youngsters entertained)
  • FIFA 12 (Lee i’m giving you a rematch this year!)
  • Gears of War 3
  • Forza 4
  • Mario Kart 3DS
  • Mass Effect 3 (A given)
  • Need For Speed – Run
  • Onlive
  • RAGE
  • SW:TOR
  • 3D Mario
  • Tintin (surely we’re due a good game adaption of a movie!)
  • Skyrim
  • Trackmania 2
  • Uncharted 3.

On top of that you have Dr. Ray Muzyka & Dr. Greg Zeschuk from Bioware discussing SW:TOR, Naughty Dog discussing Uncharted 3 and Tim Willits discussing ID’s rich gaming history. You’ve got the Indie Games Section which always throws up a few gems and the Career Fair for people who are looking to venture into a career in gaming.

Al and I are there for two of the days, the Friday and Saturday, and the rest of the podcasters will be joining us on the Saturday plus a few hangers on, hi Lee!
I love going to these events and getting chance to spend some time with like minded people who can’t wait to see what the next big thing is in gaming as well.

So, hopefully we’ll see some of you there, you can’t miss us, with the custom made polo shirts that Al has superbly gotten hold of for us. Keep an eye on the website on the Friday and the Saturday as we will attempt to keep the site updated with what we’ve seen and what’s stood out to us. All-in-all the big problem with the whole Eurogamer event is that our two day visit just won’t be long enough!
